J&K: Govt sets up camping, other services to boost tourism in Kupwara’s Keran Sector

 After the ceasefire on the borders between India and Pakistan some time back along the Line of Control including the Keran sector, Jammu and Kashmir’s government set up camping and other services at Kupwara’s Keran sector in North Kashmir. It was set up with the aim of boosting tourism. Other educated youths also started different activities including providing tents on a rented basis aimed to earn their livelihood. Notably, the Keran sector, which is almost 155 kilometers from Srinagar, is also a good destination for the Kupwara district and people are expecting more tourists to come and enjoy the camping services provided by locals of the Keran sector. That’s why, the Department of Tourism is also helping locals to attract more tourists by creating a source of employment. They also identified some places to make specific food courts and small huts and also increased camping services for adventure-loving youths. Notably, the situation of borders including the Keran sector was worst and locals were living in a horrible atmosphere due to the cross-border shelling and high rifts between India and Pakistan.
